These letters are from students who went through the VR program and wanted to share about the impact it had on their life.

 

Dear Alyssa,

Thank you for coming in on your time off to speak to our students.  Your presentation hit home.  During our wrap-up, the kids said the slides were graphic.  However, one student stated, “ But those pictures made their point.”  The rest of the students agreed.  That is the kind of thing I wanted to hear.  Thank you again.  We appreciate your time.

I have always thought that the presenters from LifeChoices were awesome.  They are so wonderful to come and share with us about what they know.  All in all, I thought the information was extremely valuable and enlightening; it will influence my decisions in the future.

The information I know about sexually transmitted diseases is important to my health.  My knowledge of sexually transmitted diseases should, in the future, prevent me from engaging in risky sexual activities.

Risky sexual behaviors are all sexual behaviors.  I don’t think you could have sex in any way and it be “safe.”  Abstinence is the safest behavior.

I learned that STD’s are very common in the world.  Also, you can get STD’s from any kind of sexual contact.  A condom can’t stop a person from getting STD’s.  I really didn’t know much about STD’s and now I do.  I am glad that Jay (the presenter) came and talked to us about STD’s…  Jay St. Clair from LifeChoices did a great job teaching the class about sexual diseases.  He came out and just told us what could happen to us.  We need more people like him to go around and talk to the students in schools.  Mr. St. Clair gave us good information and also made the class fun.  He was not scared to just come out with the information about sexual diseases… The information that Mr. St. Clair said will influence me in making decisions in the future… I would like to have children and be able to have sex with someone I love without worrying about a disease.

The presenter from LifeChoices was a really nice guy and he taught me things I did not know about some STD’s.  I learned the STD’s don’t care about who or what you are and that they can kill you.  Mr. St. Clair made it clear that he cared for us by telling us the whole truth about sex and its risks.

This made me realize that our generation needs to stop the risky sexual behaviors before we all get infected.  Our generation needs to live on and not have to worry about STD’s… Jay St. Clair was a great presenter.  He is the type of guy that lets you know that you can talk to him about anything… The information given will help me in the future to make better choices in my life.  I am waiting until marriage—not just because of the speech Jay gave but because of my beliefs in waiting until marriage.

I will take this information with me by not having sex till I am married.  I don’t think that I will be having sex till I get married.  This could save my life and my future wife’s life, and even our future baby’s life.

Risky sexual behavior is acting in any sexual activity with someone that is not your husband or wife.  Our presenter seemed very caring… He was very motivated and wanted us to be informed.  After seeing the STD slides and videos, and learning more about them, I know that I will wait for my significant other and we are married.  I don’t want anything that will harm me or my future family.

Everything with the word sex at the end of the word is sex.  [Our presenter] showed that he really cared and wasn’t here just to scare us.  He was here because he cares and wanted to let everyone know the truth about STD’s… This information will definitely influence the decisions I will make in my future.  Every time I think of doing anything sexual, I will remember the statistics and how easily it is spread.  Because you never know if the person has something.

What I liked about the presenter from Life Choices was that he was brutally honest with us.  He didn’t treat us like we were stupid, or had no knowledge of the situation.  I liked that he came at us with the straight facts and didn’t try to “sugar coat” it.

I learned a few new things about STD’s.  The pictures said a lot.  I didn’t realize that the younger you are the more at risk you are for getting an STD if you are sexually active.  The presenter from LifeChoices was very cool.  He showed that he cared and gave us good, factual information.  He presented the information in a manner that made you think and realize that it is an every day thing.

The thing I like best about our presenter, Jay St. Clair, was that he talked to us like we were people.  It wasn’t a lecture, it was real information put into a form we all willingly listened to.  Jay distinguished lies from truth, which marketers and sales people have been trying to stop.

I have dreams that I need to accomplish and there is no way I can accomplish a lot my dreams if I have to worry about something that would take up as much time as having sex.  I’m not ready for that commitment.

Thank you for talking about feelings after sex.  I felt like my life was over until I heard what you had to say.  I will not have sex again until marriage because the guy I was with didn’t love me like I thought he did.
