Shannon has her Masters degree in speech communication from Northeast Louisiana University. She has been the director of Connection Institute with LifeChoices Medical Clinic in Joplin for over 10 years. Here, she uses her unique talents and insight to train presenters to go in to local schools to teach abstinence education through LifeChoices’ sex education program, Virtuous Reality: Love Education™, as well as to consult with other program directors, nationwide.
Shannon co-hosts a write-in radio show titled 'House Calls' with her husband, Dr. Karl Wendt, a marriage and family therapist. They have been married for 25 years and have two perfect daughters, Katie and Sammy. Karl and Shannon frequently speak for seminars, conferences, youth rallies and civic agencies on such topics as marriage, parenting, dating, STDs, love vs. infatuation, and stress. Together, they have also authored the books I want to talk with my teen about love, sex and dating and I want to teach my child about sex.
Shannon is also an adjunct instructor in communication at Missouri Southern State University.
